Job Description

A dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) is sought to support early childhood development in a classroom setting for children aged 2-5. This contractual position in Middletown, DE focuses on providing occupational therapy services within an early intervention framework, emphasizing the development of fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living abilities to foster success in educational and everyday environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments of students fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living skills.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services in various settings such as classrooms, small groups, or one-on-one sessions.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate developmentally appropriate strategies into daily classroom routines.
• Monitor and document student progress, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participate in evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP meetings, and transition planning activities.
• Work with parents and guardians to extend therapy goals into home and community environments.
• Encourage student independence and facilitate access to curriculum and learning environments.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Valid state Occupational Therapist license and/or NBCOT registration.
• State Department of Education certification for school-based practice if applicable.
• Experience working with early childhood populations, particularly those with developmental delays or disabilities, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and play-based intervention techniques.
• Excellent skills in communication, collaboration, and time management.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with IDEA, early childhood special education, and inclusive classroom models.
• Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment in preschool settings.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
• Previous experience in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy.
