Instructs less skilled machinists. This is the top-level position with the expectation a machinist at this level is highly proficient with all less complex machines in the shop.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Sets-up machines of a complex nature including horizontal/vertical milling or mill/turn with multi axis twin spindles, twin turretsOperate machines of a complex natureMaintain set-up sheets for new parts or design changesEdit machine programsSelect proper tooling for different machining sequencesInstruct less skilled operatorsPerform finishing work such as, deburring, sanding, etc.RequirementsEducation/ExperienceAssociate degree in Machining and 5-7 years' experience with equipment of a complex nature; or a combination of education and 8-10 years' experience with equipment of a complex natureRequired SkillsMust be highly proficient at set-up, operation, determining tooling, process sequences, speeds and feeds, shop mathematics, and thorough on inspection of parts and instruction to othersProgramming is not a prerequisite for this position but is a plus.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
