Buying flowers in Australia can be exorbitantly expensive, a treat often reserved for birthdays and special occasions. In New York I was pleased to discover delis (or bodegas) sell them at a tiny fraction of the cost – meaning I can treat myself every time I walk around the corner.
I’ve taken to keeping small arrangements in old jars all over the apartment, where such a little touch makes a big difference! While deli flowers may not be as fresh as what you’ll find at the Chelsea Market or a florist, they can still be mighty pretty. I love the palette of these carnations in pale orange, bright pink and deep red.
