This summerhouse is located in Österlen, part of the Skåne region in which I once lived. A conversion of an abandoned farm house, the space was recreated by Jonas Labbe and Johannes Schotanus of LASC Studio in Copenhagen.
Houses in this area traditionally have few windows, providing protection from the weather – however this modern conversion instead focused on bringing nature indoors by opening up the interior spaces.
The result is a light filled home created using basic materials – pine, plaster and concrete. These are paired with vivid highlights in turquoise and marigold, that weave their way throughout the home.
